About Us

Hank Hanau CFP®, Financial Strategist,  although no longer with us (1936-2017), created HFH Planning in 1993 for two reasons:

  • The commission based structure of major brokerage firms does not favor the middle-income individual who is most in need of a financial plan.
  • Due to the same fee structure, major brokerage firms, generally, may only suggest financial products for which they receive a commission – that is not always the best product for the client.

We are dedicated to continue Hank’s mission by providing fee only conflict-free financial advice for individuals of all income levels. Partnering with you, we develop a financial plan that reflects your specific needs and goals.

We charge an hourly fee to create the plan. Generally speaking, when your finances are less complex, it takes less time for us to develop the plan, and you pay less. When finances are complex, the reverse is true.

The plan is yours to implement as you wish.
If you choose, we will implement your plan and conduct on-going monitoring, adjusting in response to changes in your situation that may arise. You are also free to implement the plan on your own, or with another financial professional.

After the plan development phase, we no longer charge by the hour.
HFH is one of the few firms to use your income and net worth to determine an appropriate fee for ongoing advice and direction. The advice we provide is based solely on our expertise — not on any commissions or hidden fees we might earn by recommending a particular product. Using income and net worth is truly objective, fair, transparent and aligned with your goals at all times. It also makes our services accessible to clients of any and all income levels. As Certified Financial Planner™ professionals, we are required to always put the interest of our clients before those of our firm. And we wouldn’t do business any other way.

We consult with tax attorneys, estate attorneys, accountants, stock brokers, insurance agents, and/or other professionals to implement the most effective long-term financial strategy for you. (U.S. Citizen or Resident.)
